O2 Lacrosse/Hudson Valley Express Merger Q&A

 

 

  1. What team will I be trying out for?

    Neutral site practice location = Torne Valley in Sloatsburg, NY or Ramapo College Mahwah, NJ

     

    2020/2021 - Summer 2021 AA and A, 2020 – FALL ONLY – Neutral site

    2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025*
    AA and single A teams that will practice on neutral site 

    2025*
    In late October, we will have supplemental tryouts for the World Series Youth Lacrosse (WSYL) team that will have additional cost and parallel training and game schedule to prepare for March qualifiers

     

    We are looking to have the neutral site teams to practice in Warwick.

     


    2026, 2027, 2028/29
    One team per grad year in each region (Warwick and NJ) 

     

     

  2. When are tryouts?

    Youth grades 3rd-rising 8th graders (2024-2028) are on July 8th and July 9th, with call back on July 10th. 

    High School grades rising freshmen (2023’s-2021’s) will be on July 22nd/23rd.

  3. Where are tryouts?

    Both Youth and High School tryouts will take place at Ramapo College, 505 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah NJ.

     

  4. How do I know what team I made?

    All players that have been selected will receive an invitation within 48 hours of their last tryout from info@o2lacrosse.com

     

  5. What are the costs to play travel?

     Cost will vary depending on age and regional vs. all star team. A non refundable deposit will be required asap after invitation.  With more tournaments, training and elite level recruiting tournaments cost will increase.  Those that are playing AA and All Star teams will pay more than those that play A. We are still working out the details with the merger. 

     

  6. How many players on a team?

    This will vary from team to team, but generally, no more than 20 players on any team.

     

     

  7. How many practices?

     

    *2028-2029 Teams 6 Fall Practices/1 Fall Tournament, 2 Winter Practices,8 Summer Practices,2 Summer Tournaments

    *2024-2027 Teams 8 Fall Practices/3 Fall Tournaments, 2 Winter Practices,10 -12 Summer Practices/4 Summer Tournaments

    *Selected All Star players at the youth level will have additional practice in both the fall and summer.

  8. Who will coach?

All HVE coaches will be offered coaching positions on the new combined club.  Both clubs share the same vision of having experienced coaches to provide high quality instruction.  Below is the link to the HVE and O2 current coaching staff bios.

  1. Where are tournaments and how many?

    All youth level teams will attend one day tournaments in the fall/summer seasons in addition to one overnight tournament (summer only).  Tournaments will be selected in the months of October / Nov for fall and June / July for Summer (TBD)

     

  2. What about uniforms?

    All accepted players will receive a separate uniform ordering link after they have paid their deposit. We partner with Universal Lacrosse for all of our uniform and team store needs.

     

  3. Is this for Fall or Summer only?

    Your commitment is for the 2019 Fall/2020 Summer Season.  All HVE players who played on summer 2019 teams will be offered a position on the fall 2019 team.  Effective with next summer (July 2020) tryouts, you will be trying out for the fall 2020 and summer 2020 teams.

     

  4. What if I play a conflicting sport?

    We are great believers in multi-sport athletes. Once you have committed to O2 Lacrosse, we expect that you attend all practices and tournaments in both the fall and summer.   5. How do I register for tryouts?

  6. Do you offer summer camps and other clinics?

    We offer year round camps, clinics and trainings starting in September 2019 through end of July 2020. These are separate registrations from the fall / summer club lacrosse program.

     

  7. Does O2 Lacrosse have Box Lacrosse?

    Our O2 National Box Program is a separate program that runs from November-February.  Box training will be held in both Glen Rock, NJ and Warwick, NY.
